Sport Series Shock - Rear
KONI Sport Series, internally rebound adjustable twin-tube non-gas shock absorber.
KONI’s Sport shocks are designed for drivers looking for a sporty driving experience. These products
focus on exceptional road-holding combined with an acceptable level of comfort. KONI Sport characteristics
include responsive steering, reduced body-roll and limited body movements. Many Sport shocks are externally
adjustable shock absorbers, making fine tuning even easier. KONI Sport 'Yellow' shocks offer the same
exceptional road-holding as the Classic 'Red' shocks, but are especially designed for cars that are fitted with
lowering springs which are shorter than the original springs.
Features:
- Internally adjustable
- Capability of fine tuning
- Rebound adjustable off-the-vehicle
- Street ride quality and corner carving handling control
- Tailor made and specifically engineered for each application
- Excellent choice for multi-use cars (street, track, etc.)
- Best KONI shock for all performance lowering springs

What ARE Twin-Tube Shocks?
Twin-tube design shock absorbers, sometimes referred to as hydraulic or gas-hydraulic shock
absorbers, have two tubes – one for the piston to work in and one known as a reservoir tube for the excess
oil
to move in and out of. As the piston rod moves in and out of the shock the oil moves through valves between
the
two tubes ensuring controlled damping occurs to control the suspension of the vehicle. When the piston rod
is
pushed in, oil flows without resistance from below the piston through the orifices and the non-return valve
to
the volume above the piston. Simultaneously, a quantity of oil is displaced and forced to flow through the
bottom valve into the reservoir tube. The resistance, encountered by the oil on passing through the bottom
valve, generates the bump damping. When the piston rod is pulled out, the oil above the piston is
pressurized
and forced to flow through the piston. The resistance, encountered by the oil on passing through the piston,
generates the rebound damping.
Internal Adjustment
KONI developed and manufactured the first adjustable telescopic shock absorbers and continue
to
innovate adjustment technology in each product. KONI Internal Adjustment is used on the Twin-tube design
shock
absorbers. This type of adjustment is made with the shock fully compressed and off the vehicle. With some
internal adjustment shock absorbers, a bump stop must be removed from the dust cover prior to adjustment.
The
adjustment process in this shock absorber does not have set clicks, rather the adjuster nut provides the
freedom
to fine tune your settings to suit your car needs. To adjust, gently and with care fully collapse the shock
absorber. When you feel it hit the bottom and stop, slowly turn the piston rod or dust cover to the left
(counterclockwise) until you feel the cams of the adjustment nut engage into the foot / bottom valve
assembly.
